I've compiled emacs to alpha, and got GP-fault when I've run it.
It's in dispnew.c, line 527:

	disered_glyphs->enable[vpos] = 0;

Of course I don't have any idae what disered_glyphs->enable is, and
tired to find out... probably the object is null... the build doesn't
have full debug-info in, to see variables, but one of the registers in
that line is 0, but it can be the value...

I haven't change anything in the distribution, only paths.h...

I sleep before making new experiments, hoping find some tips at
"morning" (nothing to do with the sun...)

Viktor

Subject: NTEmacs on Alpha/NT4.0

Hi,

I'm trying to build NTEmacs on an Alpha with NT V4.0.
After unpacking and building the 19.34 kit, I got the following:
  temacs.exe -batch -l loadup dump
    runtime error R7027
    - not enough space for lowio initialization

So, I copied config.nt to config.h and modified it as follows:
  - included m/alpha.h instead of m/i386.h
  - set BITS_PER_LONG to 64
When I tried to rebuild, file alloca.h is missing (included from
m/alpha.h). Do you have this file (or is there an Alpha NT4.0 kit)?

BTW, I mistakenly used pkunzip to unpack the kit (later I used unzip).
pkunzip truncated many of the file-names during restoration. Even
though there are unpacking directions in the FAQ, You might want to add a
reminder to the readme to help out other dummies...

Thanks,
        Steve

Subject: Building 19.34 with NTGUI=0

That maze of #ifdef's may need more convolution to get a proper
build in 19.34 when building an NT version for DEC ALPHA with
NTGUI undefined. On my build, the linker finds two unresolved
symbols:
 syms_of_xmenu()
 Vwin32_alt_is_meta()

Why, you say, am I building with NTGUI undefined? Well, the
build with the Win32 stuff doesn't run unless I give it the "-nw."
Oh, and I am spoiled. I need my emacs on this Alphastation 600
to find out what is wrong. Buy hey, if someone can has already
got it up on alpha, how about uploading a binary.

PS: I am building with Microsoft VC4.1 on the Alpha, NT4.0.

Hi Rick,

Did you ever find those precompiled Alpha binaries?

Geoff: I've been trying to compile 19.34 for the DEC
Alpha using VC4, it compiled fine, and then of course
crashed on startup. I noticed a message from you in
the archives saying you were tracking down this same
problem. Is there a solution to this yet? Or...does
there still exist somewhere a copy of the 19.31 Alpha
binaries (compiled by Jim Durrell) that used to be on
ftp.cs.washington.edu/pub/ntemacs/19.31/alpha?

Also, I built Emacs for the PPC recently, and it seems
to work fine so far. If you have the disk space, perhaps
you'd care to send me instructions on packing this up
correctly and I could upload it somewhere?

Thanks,
>- Sumit
