This patch updates from Tk 4.2 to Tk 4.2+. It should be applied
by running the "patch" program in the top-level directory of a clean
Tk 4.2 release, using the command "patch -p <tk4.2plus.patch"

Then run "configure", and do "make" in this directory. This creates
all libraries and the Tk4.2 shell (wish). Then do "make install"
(in super-user mode) to install it on your machine for general use.

This patch adds a lot of functionality to the standard distributions
of Tk4.2, such as:

* Tk is compiled as a package. A pkgIndex.tcl file is automatically
  created for all loadable libraries. This means that the
  "package require" command is able to load Tk from tclsh as soon
  as the first tk command is used in the script. For example:

	#!/usr/local/bin/tclsh7.6
	package require Tk 4.2
	tk_dialog .t title text {} 0 OK

* If "--enable-shared" is specified, both the shared and the static
  libraries are created.

* Standalone Applications. Now an extra function Tk_InitStandAlone() is
  available that performs the same function as Tk_Init(). The difference
  is that all the files in /usr/local/lib/tk4.2 are now compiled into
  the application. This makes the executable a lot larger (about 87 kbyte,
  compared with the static version), but it will run on any machine (of
  the same architecture). It makes no difference any more if Tcl is
  installed or not, or which version.

* C++ support. The following files have been adapted for use with C++:
	tkTest.c
	tkUnixTest.c
	tkSquare.c
	tkAppInit.c

  Many files have been adapted such that it can be compiled
  with any C++ compiler. Try:
	make wish++
  This will create a version of wish in which tkAppInit is
  compiled with a C++ compiler.

* Bug fixes. Two small bugs (in tkEvent.c and tkUnixNotfy.c) are fixed.

* Tests are done using the loadable library Tktest.so.
  In the build directory a file "pkgIndex.tcl" is created which makes it
  possible to use Tktest.so and Tksquare.so as a package.

* The Xpm image type (by Ioi K Lam) is built in.

* A JPEG image reader (by Andrew Swan) is built in.

* A GIF write function, and base-64 encoding for GIF and JPEG images
  (compatible with Netscape plugin) is built-in.

* If you have the shared libraries libpng.so and libz.so, you will have the
  additional PNG image format available, both for reading and writing.

* All patches needed for Itcl are already built in. They will be automatically
  enabled if the companion Tcl distribution is confugured with namespaces
  enabled (configure --enable-itcl)
