This is the x25tcl 0.1 package -- a quick hack, based on Tcl's built-in
TCP sockets, to get calling and listening sockets for X.25 Switched
Virtual Circuits (SVCs) with the SunLink X.25 9.x package.

This package comes with a pre-compiled .so for Solaris 2.5.1 which
should work with X.25 9.x or newer if those libraries are in your
$LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

To rebuild the package with the included makefile, you will need
Sun's unbundled SunPro C compiler and the SunLink X.25 9.x libraries.
Your $CONNHOME environment variable should point to the X.25 install
directory, typically /opt/SUNWconn.

For "make install" to work correctly, you need to have $TCLHOME pointing
to your Tcl/Tk installation directory -- we use something like /opt/tcl.

The x25::socket man page describes usage. It should be pretty similar
to what you would expect from TCP sockets, working with standard channel
facilities like fileevent, fconfigure, and even Expect's exp_spawn -open.

This is a moderately tested alpha release, but is in production use
in our 24x7 network control center. That said, it has only been
tested on Solaris 2.5, 2.5.1, and 2.6 running SunLink X.25 9.x.

Other environments will fail miserably out of the box, but I will
be happy to accept contributed patches to improve portability to
other environments (Linux AX25 and non-Sun X.25 libraries?).

I would also be happy to accept patches and suggestions for feature
and performance improvements. Things like PVCs would probably be in
pretty high demand...

This is only my second attempt at a package for Tcl/Tk, so any feedback
on packaging or build improvements would be appreciated.
