tkAtaxx --- (c) 1995 John Williams

The rules are quite simple:

-- There are two players, represented by the colors red and blue. Each starts with two pieces on the board in alternating corners.

-- Players alternate moves, usually starting with red. If blue insists on going first, red may pass.

-- A move consists of moving a piece either one or two spaces in any direction. If a single-space move is made (to an adjacent space), the original piece remains. But if a two-space move is made, the original is removed. Players may also pass if they have no legal moves or simply wish to do so.

-- Any pieces adjacent to the moved piece (destination space) are changed to that player's color.

-- Any empty (white) space is a legal destination. Grey spaces are unplayable spaces and are there to add variety.

-- The game ends when all spaces are filled. The winner is the player with the most pieces of his color when the game ends.

Ataxx may be played by two people sharing a mouse, one person against a computer player, or even by two computer players. The computer has five skill levels, rated as follows:

Level 1: gullible
Level 2: good
Level 3: expert
Level 4: extremely hard!
Level 5: (Level 3 is all I can handle...)

By the way, thinking time increases exponentially.
